At Least They Have Their Priorities Straight...

Well, when we still have a problem with illegal immigration, oil prices that are still too damn high, Chimpanzes in Iran trying to get nukes to wipe Israel off the map, and too many problems that requires serious people to solve, our DEMOCRATIC Congress, the House, specifically, have decided to pass a resolution apologizing for slavery.

My response?

TO WHOM???

The news story on CNN was followed by the bubblehead condescendingly saying at the close of the story "The House stopped short of paying reparations." As if doing so would be a good idea and an absolute necessity for our nation. To this rocket scientist, I pose the same question: "TO WHOM???"

I'd link the print story, but AP won't pay my fee for directing traffic their way.

Monday Night Leftovers

I cut up the remainder of the rotisserie chicken, took the leftover corn and mashed potatoes, through it in a bowl, and heated it in the nuker. Pulled it out, covered with freshly-ground white pepper, and mixed. The only thing I might have added was shredded monterey jack cheese.

Its Always Something...

Heir No. Two had a tough weekend. Allergies have been kicking his butt, so we gave him come kids Claritin. It helps the nose goblins and watery eyes, but then he gets really tired. So when I went to serve dinner Sunday evening, I found him like this in the living room.

After an hour and a half, he woke up, but as you can see, he did not really fully wake up. He did decide he liked his brother's hat, though.

As for brother, he goes to have his tonsils and adenoids removed tomorrow. He's a little freaked out about it, and has not enjoyed hearing that he will be out of commission for two to three weeks. I bought him $20 worth of vintage comics Friday night, and took him to get another $43 worth at a different shop on Saturday. The reason for the vintage is two-fold. First, the new stuff is either soft-core porn or over the top violence, or both, and the second is that I get to read them. I got him some really good stuff on Saturday. I know he'll appreciate it. Here he is demonstrating "All-day bedhead of doom."

Another Photo Op Gone Bad

The Hostages posted this as part of a caption contest. Comedy gold to be sure, but on a more serious note, look at him. Look at his face. I sense it was another bad judgement moment in action. He didn't know how to react to this typical white baby.

And the parents? Don't even get me started. If there was ever an abuse situation in need of interference by the CPS people, this certainly qualifies.

Obama's Other Flag

Stolen from Innocent Bystanders.

Crosspost

No, it isn't laziness, its just that I have been busy and in answering a particularly stupid comment at the Rott, I finally got into words my full reservations about Barack Hussein Obama. I thought I summed it up so well that I would repeat it here. Deej, who is the token liberal, and a nice guy, fired off a long, adoring comment worthy of any Obamazombie. While most of it was objectionable, the part I really took umbrage with was this:

You are all just mad because YOU don’t have a candidate who can draw this kind of crowd and inspire huge masses of people all over the world. Instead, you have Grampy McCain who is now mad that he ever goaded Obama go on a trip to the Middle East and Europe. Grampy was hoping Obama would fall flat on his face on such a trip, instead of drawing crowds of 200,000 people and getting positive remarks from world leaders.

My response?

I’m mad that I don’t have a candidate so obviously confused about who his constituency is that he cannot campaign here with the people who could actually vote for him? That’s a good one, Deej.

Obama is arrogant, vacant, and so very in love with himself that it turns my stomach. Whether it is the need to jet around the world like he is someone who actually matters, in a plane with his own gut-wrenching symbol on the tail instead of the flag of the nation he believes he should lead, or a need to go to one of the holiest sites in the ME, and have his face and posters plastered everywhere as he does, or asking a FOX reporter on his plane why FOX news plays at the military bases he visited, and then imply that it was Bush’s choice, as if the troops were being denied the benefit of the 24/7 public Obama gonad-gobbling the rest of the press willingly engages in on the other channels, or scheduling speeches after free concerts to babble empty platitudes to the drooling masses who want so desperately to be relieved of the torturous burden of actually thinking for themselves, because they might have to then exposes themselves to baseless but nontheless shrill charges from the self-appointed PC elite that they are racist, bitter, unenlightened fools for seeing him as the vain, America-hating empty suit that he is.

Do I have reservations about portraying him as a Nazi? Absolutely. But some of the parallels are striking and are actually in evidence, unlike the Nazi mantras chanted ad nauseum about Bush, Rove, Cheney, and Haliburton by the tiresome voices on the left. In truth, I don’t think Obama is as smart as some of the Nazis were, but I do think many of his friends and handlers are, and they have no compunction about using his charisma…yes I said it…the one thing he’s said about himself that I do agree with…to a point. He does give a good speech. As long as it is scripted and no one asks him a real question, the guy is good. It is another reason to be be scared of him, because I think he actually believes some of what he is saying, and if there is a generalization to be applied to His Oneness’s (TM) divine and enigmatic utterances, it is that none of the policy positions he has stated, whether he has reversed them or not, is good for this country, and that is the only benchmark that matters, and the only one I care about.

There has been a lot of disappointment declared here about McCain, and there is much as conservatives that we have to dislike about Grampy. But the starkest difference between these two is that I believe that Grampy can learn from his mistakes. He may compromise, and he may pay lip service to the cap-and-trade nonsense being foisted on us by al-ja-Gora’s Cult of Gaia, but I have yet to see an instance where he has been given an opportunity to take advantage of the 20/20 clarity offered by hindsight, and not taken it. Obama has, and has not been taken to task for it. His interview with, of all people, Katie Couric (bangs head against desk) demonstrates it. Even though she finally got him to admit, after asking three times, that the surge, the one he did not support, worked, he still maintains that, knowing now what he didn’t know then, he still would not have supported it. This is the height of intellectual vanity and exposes just how dangerous his “thinking” really is.

Mad that I don’t have a candidate like him? No, Deej. Sorry. I’m mad that such a vain and vacuous man, peddling solutions that have already failed time, and time again, who lives at a standard higher than so many and keeps preaching The Politics of Lowered Expectations(TM) for other citizens of this country, and who demonstrates such bad judgment and enormous ego, can even be considered as a serious and viable candidate for President of the United States. Even for the Democratic Party, this man should be beneath the standards they should aspire to as representative scions of our legacy and heritage.

What a disappointment.

Where Can I Get Some of That?

There are days when it is just too damn frustrating to look around you and realize that stupidity and incompetence are the order of the day, and by having a clue and expecting and delivering quality, you are going against the grain.

Case in point? Barry Hussein Obambi. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to utter his middle name. I don't care. It isn't that I think he is some sort of Muslim sleeper, because that would require far more intellect and judgment than he has demonstrated thus far. No, my beef with the clueless community-organizing clown from Chicago is that he misses the mark on every single benchmark any sane and rational person would want in a President. His friends are unrepentant terrorists and dirty money people. His experience includes being a one term state senator and an incomplete term in the US Senate. He cannot answer any question that has not been scripted and fed into a teleprompter. He and his wife have no love of country, unless they are putting their stamp on it. Without even having his party's nomination, he is jetting around the world as if he is already leading this nation. The flag isn't good enough for him. He's replaced it with some sort of symbol all his own. He thinks he and his family are immune from criticism, even when he has them out campaigning for him. He continually puts his poor judgement on display for all to see. And for all his paper-thin "qualifications", the media absolutely adore him. Swooning throngs of people show up to his rallies. His supporters wander around like drooling zombies, making the most ridiculous claims about him, such as him being a "lightworker" and other such rot. I could outthink and outperform this lightweight on my very worst day, and he is poised to become the most powerful man in the free world.

For some people, work is a respite and refuge from such silliness. Not me. I have a client selling their business to a much larger player in their industry. Accordingly, the buyer is represented by a multi-state law firm employing hundreds of attorneys. This kind of transaction is typically handled by a partner or equivalent in such firm. This is the case in this transaction. This partner, who probably bills at a rate more than double my own. His annual salary is probably close to three times mine. And yet, I was shocked when I sat down to review the Purchase Agreement that he sent to me earlier this week. I understand that it was a draft, and I understand that we will still be negotiating some points. I did not expect perfection, and I understand that not all references will be correct, but when I encounter paragraph after paragraph that contradict the simplest terms of the agreement, and where reference after reference is made to the wrong place elsewhere in the agreement, I get pissed. I get pissed because it wastes my time to have to have read through something that will have to be so completely reworked, and I get pissed because my client has to pay me to do that, I get pissed because if I had sent something similar to opposing counsel, even in early stages of negotiation, my boss would have ripped me a new ***hole, and rightfully so, and most of all, I get pissed because I am drowning in debt turning out better work than some joker at a Darth Vader firm who makes a much, much higher salary than I do.

I don't mind the days when the bear gets me. That is the nature of things, but it get tired of of watching the world celebrate mediocrity while I toil away at a higher standard. Maybe I should run for President. I could certainly do better than the Obamanation, and the country would be represented by someone who actually believes in it and wants something better.

Obambi Demonstrates EPIC FAIL Understanding of History and Causes Iron Poisoning in Irony Connoiseurs Everywhere.

Saw this link at Misha's Place, and now I just can't decide if he really is that stupid, or is just boldly foreshadowing something for those of us paying attention.

Summer Nights...

...Are different when you are a kid.

I hope they remember this.

And my favorite commerical form my youth...

Highland Appliance was known for several memorable commercials, but this one is hands-down the best.

Summertime Memories

So it was a hot summer day here today, and when I was outside washing the cars, soaking up the sun and an digging the breeze, I thought about this commercial...the days of my youth, before Beruit became preferrable to Detroit. Of course, the last time I was on a Boblo Island boat, I thought it was going to sink before we got back to Detroit. Still, the song fires up a certain amount of nostalgia, just the same.

Stop the Presses!!! Rare Sighting of Backbone in French Government!!!

In the "Whattaya Know?" column...

A Morrocan MuslimWoman married to a French national was denied citizenship on the basis of failure to assimilate to French culture...specifically for failure to buy into equality between the sexes.

"France has denied citizenship to a veiled Moroccan woman on the grounds that her "radical" practice of Islam is incompatible with basic French values such as equality of the sexes."

Of course, their press is apparently as asshatted as ours...cue the outrage...

"Is a burqa incompatible with French nationality?" the [LeMonde]newspaper asked."

Read the whole thing. Its worth a few minutes.

Am I The Only One Who Sees This Clearly?

Right now, the Dhimicrats are fielding a candidate who seems to be equal parts incompetent and frightening, at least to anyone with three or more functioning brain cells. He switches positions more than John "I was in Vietnam" Kerry, and will throw anybody under the bus. Longtime Pastor? Under the Bus with you. Fundraiser and all-around financial ne'er do well? Under the bus with you? Nutroots you don't need now that you aced out that cracker Shrillery for the nomination? Under the bus with you. Stated policy stance in the past now too inconvenient because it repels those all too important centrist voters? No problem. Change your position and pass it off as some sort epiphany when you change your mind.

Anyone so eager to become President that he cannot pick a position and stick to it, cannot give an answer to a simple question without a script, and cannot introduce any idea for "reform" and "change" that hasn't already been tried and failed, sometimes at the cost of many, many lives simply has no business being President. Either he is a duplicitous liar, or he such tragically bad judgement that he simply isn't ready for the big chair. The real question is why so many people who are in a position to lay these weaknesses bare have chosen to get behind his candidacy. Are they just ragingly incompetent themselves, or do they really hate this country that much? I think we all need to be watching and considering this carefully in the coming months.

A Brief Interlude

Have you ever been just so pissed off, ragged out tired that you couldn't see straight?

Me too.

No bizzaro world stories. Nothing on the latest missives of the perpetually outraged Assholes for Allah. Nothing on the creeping cult of self that has permeated our culture.

Nope.

Just a quiet mediditation on big things:

Followed by a relaxing song:

Don't like it. Tant pis, habitant. The Complaint Department is closed.

I Give Up.

Misha linked to this story at the Times Online. It stands on its own as proof that the inmates are running the asylum across the pond. This is stupid, even for Europe, and it shows just how far the madness of polical correctness has wormed its way into the culture. It offends me so that I almost feel like making threats and generally acting like an ungrateful immigrant DEMANDING that my new home embrace all that I left behind, or "I weel keel them!"

Sorry. I was busy channeling the youthful scourge of indeterminate origin and religion currently rampaging through western europe. I love how they have come for the tykes and try to control them to prevent unPC thinking at such an early age...even better that they completely miss the unstated purpose of getting little Johnny or Suzie to inform on Mum and Dad for commiting the unspeakable crime of thinking outside the PC cell and having the nerve to make such a forbidden remark in front of the tykes. Yeah, yeah. You say "Hyperbole". I say "Just wait

I finally used my gift card...

And purchased "In Harm's Way" and "Babylon 5: The Lost Tales".

The first because its my favorite John Wayne flick, the second because I loved B5 and I know that Warner Brothers made a huge mistake in failing to get fully behind the franchise and exploit it for all it is worth. It didn't disappoint. JMS was more philosophical than usual.

Check out a little bit of it.
